ok.. i had braces and my dentist said that after i got them off i would have 2 get my wisdom teeth cut out so that they wouldnt grow in crooked and mess my teeth up again... i got my braces off a few months ago.. now my dentist says i have an impacted wisdom tooth and that it needed 2 b cut out but i needed 2 wait 2 more years cuz im only 14 and he said most places wont do it until ur 16 (thats a lie cuz my friend got hers cut out when she was 14)... but 2day my jaw was hurting so bad that i started crying and my friend said that my jaw was swelling.. and she looked inside my mouth and said my gums were 2... i asked her when the pain would stop and she said it wouldnt until u get them out... what should i do? i cant handle this pain 4 2 more years!!

What should you do? Follow the instructions your orthodontist gave you to begin with: have your wisdom teeth extracted, ASAP. You may have pericoronitis, an infection in the gums around the wisdom tooth.
I have seen many patients for whom I recommend removal of all 4 wisdom teeth by age 14, so it is not that uncommon.
