I need to have 2 impacted wisdom teeth out at 31--any tips?

Advice for a faster recovery? It will be inpatient surgery and I'll be in the hospital for only one night. Do you have any tips for bouncing back quickly and minimizing bruising?

Thanks:)

THIS SITE HAS GOOD ADVISE FOR WISDOM TOOTH EXTRACTION:

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO FOLLOW THE POST INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN TO YOU WHEN YOU HAVE YOUR EXTRACTIONS.
Reply:Mine were impacted and it was outpatient surgery at an oral surgeons office. They administered an anisthetic (the kind to make you sleep) and a couple hours later woke me up and my dad drove me home. Just take the pain medication they give you and eat soft foods like yogurt, pudding, and mashed potatoes for a few days and you will be fine.
Reply:i had all four removed and went back to work...never heard of anyone in the hospital unless they were impacted....good luck
Reply:Enjoy the drugs they give you, follow the advice they give for healing.
Reply:when you get back home, DO NOT use a straw to drink, nor smoke. These two things can lead to DRY SOCKET and its

a very painful thing. Eat soft foods, soups, jello, pudding for a

little while until you can tolerate more solid foods... take it easy and you will be okay. When I had mine out, they gave me a

pain med and it helped.... try not to worry though, you'll do fine
Reply:ICE!! Anything cold and soft- no crunchies- ice cream, yogurt, cottage cheese, jaba juice, sorbet, ice... the more cold is in your mouth the less inflamation you will have. Ice your cheeks too. Try not to swallow any blood if you bleed because it will make your stomach upset. That was my mistake and I threw-up. Believe me... that is not an experience I'd like to re-live, I could barely open my mouth enough to puke!! Try to eat something before you take any pain medication, it can also make your stomach upset.

Relax, lay in bed for a day if you can, catch up on all your soaps :) Good luck!
