Impacted Wisdom Tooth Removal?

All 4 of my wisdom tooth are impacted.

AND I NEED TO GET THEM REMOVED!

Can someone pleeeeeeeease help me because I am SO scared! I am scared to death! That's all I can think about everyday! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Please help me, if you have experienced it before.

Impacted Wisdom Tooth Removal?
ull be fine, it felt like i was asleep for a few seconds, i didnt even take the prescription pain medicine he gave me, i just took motrin. i was sorta eating tiny bits of turkey the first night.

but it also depends on how impacted they are...buy a bag of frozen peas to put on ur face afterwards
Reply:It's really not that bad hun. Most oral surgeons put the patient to sleep to remove these. When you wake you will have some discomfort for a few days but pain medication is prescribed that works very well. I had mine removed many years ago and did just fine.
Reply:it not that bad....

but it was 4 me bc i got 2 dry sockets but now i kno how 2 prevent tht....

DO NOT sleep with a pillow or eat hard food.

after the bleeding is gone u can sleep with a pillow tho..

n wen u feel bettr eat pudding bc if ur like me n hate puddding then ur try to digesting blood n will throw up evry few minutes.
Reply:2 months back I had 8 teeth removed, 2 of which were my wisdom teeth. Have the I.V sedation and you wont know a thing. I wasnt in pain afterwards. Its not that bad, they give you pain meds anyway but your mouth may be a little soar but your not in pain.
Reply:I had both my lower wisdom teeth removed about 3 weeks ago, as they were impacted and decayed, plus the molars next to them. I was absolutely dreading it, just like you are.

I had them done under general anesthetic in the hospital, and Im glad to say it all went fine. I had quite a bit of swelling for about a week, but I didn't feel any real pain as such, just a sore throat and stiff neck and jaw. I was back on solid food after about 6 days, and enjoyed my Xmas dinner.

If you're having it done under general (Im guessing you will be if they're impacted), it shoud be fine. You'd be unconcious throughout, and oblivious to all the nastiness that you might have read about. Ignorance is bliss!!!
Reply:Everyone is scared to have it done. It's usually people's first type of surgery . Going to sleep, sounds scarey, but it makes for a more comfortable experience overall. You will wake up right away after wards. It's like a twilight sleep. Not too deep. Just enough that you are comfortable and are not able to remember anything. It will be over before you know it.

Follow aftercare instructions. Apply ice pack for the first 24 hrs. only. reduces swelling. They will most likely give you Rx for pain. You'll probably have discomfort for a few days. Good Luck!!
Reply:I know how you feel. I thought it was going to be horrible, and mine was a little harder because they were so very large. I also found out that I had 5 wisdom teeth, and one was growing a root that was almost melded to my jaw. I was fortuanate to have a VERY good dentist who was sympathetic. I felt no pain during the extractions I actually felt pressure relief immediately. Now after the shots wore off, and the healing, I still get pain where they were, a year later, but it is nothing compared to three weeks of sleepless nights.

Because I do have a phobia of things being put in my mouth he suggested I take some valium before hand and joked thru out the procedure, which made it hard for me because of the fact he had his hands and tools in my mouth, I couldn't move it, and the muscles were paralyized almost. I mean its hard to laugh or chuckle in that position. Go ahead and get it over with. It isn't worth the agony you're going thru.
Reply:calm down its not so bad.

ur dentist should of given u a choice to have him/her do it or go to an oral surgeon. i have experienced it b4. i made a desicion to have one removed completely awake b/c i was afriad to be knocked out for the procedure. it might not hurt to bad if u have a high pain tolerance. i have a high pain tolerance and it killed me after i had it removed. dont be scared. i was scared but i had to do it b/c i wasnt eating so dont stress dont think about. go out and hang with friends the night b4.
Reply:Hey i too am getting them removed! I think sometime like the 2 or third week of February. I just had my top one taken out last wednesday and it wasnt' bad at all I was awake and it came out like in 20 seconds I had gauze on it and like by 1:30 I felt fine..my jaw was alittle sore for a couple of days I mostly missed eating...no real pain I just took Advil. I am going to have my bottom two removed they are impacted. I'm nervous but keep praying about it! Keep intouch I hope it goes well. I'll be praying ofr you
Reply:I am lucky enough that none of my wisdom teeth are fully impacted under bone, but I have to have all of them removed eventually, because of decay and partial soft-tissue impaction.

I just had my lower left wisdom tooth, and an adjacent tooth, removed yesterday, and I have no pain or swelling in my mouth at all.

I was awake for the entire procedure, as it was only 2 adjacent teeth, but in most cases where they are removing several impacted teeth, they will sedate you. It took less than 15 minutes to get both teeth out.

I think I may have a high pain threshold, but the extraction didn't even hurt. I felt slight pressure, but the local anesthesia worked well.

I didn't bleed for too long after, less than an hour.

I don't smoke, so I can't tell you how long you should wait to smoke if you do.

I did eat regular Mcd's food later that night, chewing on the opposite side of my mouth, but if you are having all of them removed at once, you won't be as fortunate.

My "hole" is already closed up, and I can no longer see anything but gum tissue at the extraction site.

The only discomfort I have had since then is a sore throat, a stiff neck, and lethargy. I am not sure if these symptoms are even related to it, and it may just be a coincidence that I am developing a cold at the same time, but the stiff neck might be from them yanking and pushing on my jaw during the extraction.

My advice is to relax, get it over with, and follow all the after-care instructions exactly, because you don't want to risk getting a dry socket. I've heard it's ten times worse than regular tooth pain, which is unbearable in itself.
