Wisdom teeth extraction caused me to have numb, tingly sensation in lower lip and chin?

I just had four impacted wisdom teeth removed yesterday morning around 10 am. It is now 5 pm the next day and I am experiencing a tingly/numb sensation in the right half of my lower lip and chin. It feels huge, like it was injected with Novocaine.

I read up on this and discovered that this is due to the inferior alveolar valve being injured. It could take weeks, months, or even YEARS to heal? My follow up visit isn't until next Tuesday, I don't know if I should call up my oral surgeon and bring this to his immediate attention, or just wait it out and see? A few websites said that the tingling sensation is a good sign that feeling will return soon?

If you have any advice or personal experience stories you could share with me, that would greatly help. I've already visited every single website on this topic that the world wide web can offer, haha. Thank you.

I had my wisdom teeth done last Thursday - and my tongue is still numbish/tingly also. my right jaw and lip were completely numb the whole day/nite after the procedure but by the next morning they were normal but my tongue is still this way. i have a follow-up appointment tomorrow. I have probably visited every site that you have! I am an internet junkie when something is ailing me!! haha! From everyone that i've talked to - it is most likely nerve damage. I've read it's very rare for it to actually stay numb FOREVER - but it COULD take at least a year to completely go back to normal. I feel your pain - it is so aggravating... I hope it gets better soon!!
Reply:no, they will heal like in 2 or 3 days depending on how many wisdom teeth. i had them pulled off and it just kills you. its hard to eat food with that, but be patient for 2 or 3 days for it to heal.
Reply:Be patient before you panic about having serious nerve damage or whatever- they use a lot of local anaesthetic in your mouth when they remove your wisdom teeth, so it takes a few days to completely wear off. I had mine removed on Friday and it didn't completely wear off until yesterday (Monday), so it took around 4 days for me.

The tingling was just the feeling coming back in my case.

Hope it wears off soon!
Reply:I had all 4 removed some years ago under a general anaesthetic. I was a wreck for a good week and was on soft foods and warm drinks for about 3 weeks. When you go back to the dentist get them to show you the size of the root on a wisdom tooth.

Ring the dentist's tomorrow to make sure, but I think you'll be fine. Just load up on ibuprofen and go back to bed till you feel human again.
Reply:I would have to say even one wisdom tooth being extracted would be hard enough now all 4 is the pits. If i were you I would expect some lag in feeling and tingling. The sensations your feeling are your muscles and tooth roots coming back to a relaxed state after the ordeal they went Through. Just relax and let it heal.. hope this helps
