Hmmmm.....this depends.
I have 2 wisdom teeth. That is it, never got the other two---they just aren't there. THEY need to come out as these are UPPER teeth, and without LOWER wisdom teeth, they have nothing to keep them in the right position.
Sometimes, wisdom teeth get cavities and they aren't as easy to fix being where they are located compaired to other molars, sometimes people don't have enough room in their mouth for all their molars AND wisdom teeth, so some have to come out.....
hope this helps answer your question.
good luck finding the answers you seek......
Do you ONLY need impacted wisdom teeth extracted? Can the rest stay?
not necessarily - I had to have one of mine removed because it was cracked when it came in, another was removed because it was growing too far out of my gum and would have affected the lower tooth. Best to check with your dentist.
Reply:well my mom is an orthodontist so when my wisdom teeth started hurting, she went ahead and removed all four at the same time (instead of just the two that were hurting) to be on the safe side. aside from looking like a chipmunk for a couple days, its no big deal. i went back to work on the third day. and if they are hurting you like mine were, then you will feel soo much better afterwards.
oh ya, and all of mine were impacted.

IDK i had to get the right side pull look at my teeth now :D
Reply:I know many people who have all their wisdom teeth. I have 3 and had to have one removed as it had abscessed -that was in the days that I didn't take good care of my teeth. I also have one with the nerve removed.I would not have any extracted unless they were causing problems, and then only on the advise of a dentist, they can be repaired.
