Four of my wisdom teeth are impacted and needed to be removed next month. I feel like passing out already?

I have a phobia of pain. and I am dreadfully serious. Three of them are 100% horizontal towards the front of my mouth. One of them is 100% horizontal inward.

I would rather die, than to have the pain. Do you have any advice for me, as to eliminate the pain to the best of my ability? ok I reaally want to pass out now =[

P.S. BTW, what kind of anesthesia I should use? do I need naughing gas? Will I be completely out during the process? Gosh I dont wanna hear the drilling. I'll end up killing the dentist LOL

Poor baby you'll be fine!
Reply:You will be asleep you won't feel a thing. I hope you feel better. Good Luck!
Reply:i have a phobia of pain. nice.
Reply:take a advil its an all pain reliver
Reply:once numb you wont feel much, however the next day you

will ache so get pain medication
Reply:you will be knocked out. it will hurt pretty bad when you wake up but you wont feel anything during the process.
Reply:yea' get laughing gas- you won't hear the drilling - you will be out - they will wake you up - and then somebody will have to be there to drive you home . For my son - it didnt hurt that long after - 2 days..but, the pain wasn't that bad. when you are done - it will just feel like somebody hit you in the jaw! :-)

the day after its done it won't hurt..because they will have lots of medicine in you..

and get some pain medication..just incase.
Reply:try to ask them to give you sleeping gas or laughing gas. or such and then do the process
Reply:I got completely knocked out when I got mine removed and it wasn't bad at all they also give you pain killers afterward.
Reply:awl i feel so bad for u!

u should take some pain medicane (idk wat kind if u take any)

but yeah take however many ur instructed to b4 u go to get em removed so the pain wount b so bad. GOOD luck!

%26amp;%26amp; i hate that kinda thing to...hehe my dentist sed i have no wisdom teeth %26amp;%26amp; neither does my bro, its so strange.

but yeh, sorry, i hope u feel better then
Reply:Wish I knew. I was told today at the dentist that I need 2 pulled.
Reply:Leave ice on it for like 2 days straight, and drink milkshakes...I did this and had NO pain, seriously...
Reply:Take my word for it take your wisdom tooth taken out before its too late because if u do it when its too late ur teeth r gonna look shittier PLUS the surgery is way worse if u do it too late and more painful then the normal surgery. and the normal surgery afterpain hurts like abitch
Reply:umm talk to the person who is doing this procedure. i'm no life coach but you might have to suck it up. i have no pain tolerance and i get surgury so i think you can make it.
Reply:They knock you out completely when all four are taken out...

You count down from 10...by the time you reach 5...

You wake up in the waiting room with no memory of any procedure...and you're a little woozy...and it feels like you have your cheeks stuffed with cotton...

No worries...It's painless...

(And they give you Codeine if you need it later...but I didn't...)

A little pain never bothers me...
Reply:well first off, you should be put under if your not comfortable hearing the drill. I get put under while getting my 4 wisdom teeth out and i so would have rather done that them be awake for the whole thing.

As far as the pain, you could try taking pain killers like advil or tylenol or something like that. you also could put ice on your cheeks to numb the pain a bit. Other than that i am not sure of anything else you could do. sorry
Reply:I had to have all of mine removed. My appointment was for 815 in the morning, I arrived they gave me 2 pills, stuck an IV in me and gassed me. I woke up at 1700 with no memory. The pills for the pain the provided were great and when i ran out and they still hurt the doc was more than willing to give me more.
Reply:They'll use gas, in all probability. I had all of mine removed that way and never felt a thing. I hate pain too but this is truly painless. Remind the Dentist or Surgeon that you're afraid of pain and they'll take care of you. Just have someone to take you home after it's over. They won't let you drive! Good luck!
Reply:HAHA RELAX!

I got 4 of my wisdom teeth AND a tooth that didn't grow out properly in the front out. They weren't like normal ones though, all five teeth were BURIED in my gums. They had to cut the gums open, pull the teeth out, and sew my gums back together.

I was worried too, I went home and cried.

It was even called "day surgery", so it freaked me out.

ANYWAYS, the day of the operation, I stepped into the room and there were about 4 people waiting. They asked me if I wanted an IV (which is like a needle that stabs into your arm and puts you asleep) or the gas. I said the gas, because I'm terrified of needles. I fell asleep fairly quickly, and when I woke up, it was completely painless.

Although I couldn't open my mouth for a week...

and I had to eat my mom's stew for a week...

BLEH.

It's really okay, nothing to worry about! You'll be completely asleep during the operation.
Reply:shop around to find the best dentist ask questions to patience in the office and its laughing gas= nitrous oxide sweet dreams
Reply:You'll be out like a light. I don't even remember falling asleep when I had mine pulled. The pain is not too bad. They will give you pain medicine that is really strong. Make sure to take these. It hurts the most after the first day, but it is not too bad. I had to have them cut out since they had not grown in yet. The older you are, the more painful it is. Just remember that you can always take the meds to make the pain go away.

I wish you the best of luck and the least amount of pain. You'll be fine.
Reply:There is really nothing to it. I had 4 impacted wisdom teeth too, and i had them all removed at once. Make sure you are put completely out for the procedure. They will give you a prescription for painkillers before you have the surgery. Make sure you fill it before you have the teeth out. I found that the pain was more like a dull ache when it was all over.
Reply:If they are impacted they will completely knock you out for the removal so don't worry you won't hear or feel a thing and when you wake up you will be shocked that it is already over. Then they will give you pain medicine and as long as you follow their after care and don't so things like drink through a straw and swish things around in your mouth then your mouth should heal quickly. Our mouthes heal faster then almost any other part of our body. So don't worry. The procedure will be far better then the pain I am sure you are feeling now worrying about it. And you will not need to decide what anesthesia you need the doctor will decide. You just need to sit back and enjoy the ride.

Good luck
Reply:When I had mine out the put me into 'twilight sleep'. I don't remember a thing about it. After, there won't be much real pain, just an ache. Plus, if you have a good oral surgeon(NOT dentist), then you'll get great pain meds. If there's real pain, call the office for advice. As your mouth heals, it'll itch more than anything else.
Reply:I had all 4 of mine removed at the same time and thankfully I was asleep ( they put me to sleep with an IV ) the whole time.... And the best part was once it was done I started feeling soooooooooo much better..... Good Luck
Reply:My doc gave me a prescription for a Valium to take about an hour before the surgery to keep me calm. I ended up having just novacaine for 2 impacted teeth (he had to cut into the gum to get 1) but I didn't feel anything. The teeth came out with no problems. He also gave me an antibiotic and some lortabs for the post-numbness pain. It only lasted for a few days. Trust me, you would much rather deal with a few days pain from having them removed than weeks of pain because food got trapped under the gum and caused a serious infection in the jaw. You'll be fine, there's nothing to be scared of.
Reply:Have you talked with the oral surgeon who will be pulling the teeth? I'm getting my four wisdom teeth pulled next month and believe me, I'm not looking forward to it. I met with an oral surgeon last month and he gave me three choices, to one, have an IV to put me to sleep (yes and IV includes pain but you would be put to sleep), two, laughing gas which just loosens you up and makes you feel good, or three, just get it all numbed. I'd suggest the laughing gas for you because that doesn't hurt and would probably keep you from caring about the pain or drilling. Good luck! :)
Reply:You should be completely knocked out for the procedure. I am sorry to say though that there will be pain. It is different for everyone though some worse than others (mine sucked). I know people that it didn't bother though. If you smoke don't after surgery or you will get a dry socket and that hurts worse than anything. I made that mistake. The bright side is you will get good pain medication to help. Good luck hope all goes well.
Reply:Aww you'll be fine!

I got four adult teeth pulled while i was fully alert. I heard the popping and all that good stuff.

You'll be asleep and won't feel a thing. I know that for a fact- because oral surgeons aren't allowed to leave their patients awake for something like a widsom teeth removal.

Don't worry about a thing. They'll give you medicane to dull the pain.
Reply:I was completely put out under anesthesia. My workplace covered 80% of the procedure with my dental insurance. It was totally worth it for me.
Reply:Is it paining now? Are afraid of the later? It does not pain that much. They inject next to the teeth and numb the area and part of the tongue and then remove the teeth with pliers or prise it out with a lever like thing. You can hear and feel the crunch of it coming out. It's not painful but the knowledge causes anxiety. After the teeth are removed they tell you to have ice cream after half an hour. Think ice cream. That's your mantra. It'll get you through.
