I had an impacted wisdom tooth extracted today, but the dentist decided to cut the tooth in half and leave the root in as she was having difficultly extracting the whole tooth, (i was under local anesthesia).
Could any health problems occur, i.e. infection, pain...due to the fact that my root is still in my gum?

Reply:Yes you could get infection %26amp; you will have some pain anytimean impaction is done. IT may work on out in months or yrs to come or you can go to an oral surgeon %26amp; let him get the rest of the tooth%26gt; Doc W
