What does it mean if your wisdom teeth are "impacted"?

I just asked a simliar question to this but now im curious what it means since mine are impacted.

What does it mean if your wisdom teeth are "impacted"?
There are different catagories fo impacted:

Partial impaction means that the teeth are partially surrounded by bone, not just the roots but the top of the tooth.

Completely impacted teeth are completely covered (surrounded) by bone.

Completely impacted teeth can have complications as well, such as the roots being very close or crossing over the mandibular nerve and this would be catigorized as completely boney with complications in dental terms.
Reply:It means that they will not be able to grow from your gums like all your other teeth did. They will need to be surgically removed.
Reply:It means they never came out of the gum.
Reply:It means they haven't erupted and need to be extracted surgically.
Reply:sorry if I answer the same as someone else, but I hope this helps:

it means that they are only 1/2 way out of the gum line

my dentist made me go to an oral surgeon %26amp; have them pulled out
Reply:Its like a seed unable to germinate because of a thick and strong surface or because of being too cramped up for space.
Reply:"Impacted" means they are pointing in the wrong direction and bumping up against another tooth (generally) so they can't grow into your mouth. HuskyMom has given you a good description of various kinds of impactions.
