Will it hurt? I am not getting put to sleep but I was told they will numb me. But what can I expect before, during, and after they are pulled?
I am getting my impacted wisdom teeth pulled on the 24th. What should I expect?
Before... you'll be nervous as hell, during, you'll be fine, just tense.. and after... you'll drool all over yourself, swollow some blood (but this will be ok).. and your face will swell up like a chipmunk. It WILL hurt, don't let anyone tell you any different.. you'll be eating alot of jello, pudding, soup, ice cream... things that are soft and easy to eat. Good luck.
Reply:alot of agonizing throbbing pain, bleeding, swelling,no eating, diarrhea
Reply:pain...obviously. after the anaesthetic has worn off you will feel it, but its better than having toothache ever again.
Reply:if you feel apprehensive tell them to give you nitrous oxide, it will help you to relax...once your numb you won't feel anything sharp or poking.. YOU will however feel the pressure and unfortunately the dentist can't take that feeling away... lots of pushing.. and drilling.. may be a little uncomfortable... just being honest...don't make any plans for the next 36 hours after surgery. after surgery you will be a little groggy and drousy. after the anesthesia wears off you may be sore. i'm sure the doctor will give you meds to take so take it easy for a few days, soft diet..and here are some more helpful hints for you.

Reply:OK granted that your jaw will be numb, it will be the sounds that freak you out more than anything. Please trust me and bring a MP3 player or Cd player with a ton of your favorite songs and listen to it throughout the procedure. After wards they will most likely give you pain medication to take but i say use is sparingly. You will be tired right after the procedure is done, and you will have the taste of blood in your mouth for a few days. But rest up, take the medication and drink fluids. Unfortunately the worst part is you will be starving so be prepared to eat soup broth, scrambled eggs, jello, and pudding for the next few days after. Good Luck and hope all goes well!
Reply:I just had mine removed this past tues. It was ok because I was numb and had the laughing gas. But once that wore off Honey I felt like someone hit my face with a bat right in my mouth I think I may have overdosed on my meds the first 48 hours. I slept mostly and didn't eat food made me want to trow up. But My face didn't swell too much but laughing and yawning hurt. Its been 4 days Im back at work but I still have a little pain so I took my meds... I know by next week I should be ok and know they will never bother me again
p.s. Keep your teeth so you can see what they look like, I did and was amazed... then i threw them away
