All four of my wisdom teeth are impacted. The top two are straight, but the bottom two are sideways. I suspect, due to their positioning, my bottom wisdom teeth are pushing my other teeth forward as they try to erupt. Consequently, my bottom teeth are crowding and causing other problems in the process. I’m going to have all four of my wisdom teeth extracted next week, and am just wondering if my teeth will move back into position since there will be more room in my mouth after the removal.
I’m supposed to begin Invisalign to correct the crowding, but if my teeth may gradually move back into position on their own, I can’t justify spending $5,000 on the procedure. Thank you in advance for any help.
Is it possible for my crowded teeth to move back into position after my impacted wisdom teeth are extracted?
Well, in my own experience, my teeth did move into the space left after removal of wisdom teeth. Not completely, but it does depend on how much room you need too. I also had one tooth removed at an early age, (16) and was able to keep one wisdom tooth cause the teeth sort of moved over to make the space of the missing tooth smaller. I still have the space, but it's smaller. Took many years, but never had any problem with it. Hope this helps! Maybe you can just try the wisdom tooth removal and see if you start noticing a difference in a couple months.
Reply:your teeth will shift some after the removal of your wisdom teeth. However I can tell you from experience, I have had 6 teeth removed, 4 being wisdom teeth in the past 15 years and I have only seen very very minimal shifting in my teeth. It isn't enough to even matter.
Reply:I'm not sure why this process will cost you up to $5,000, but in the long run getting your teeth fixed appropriately will mean it's money well spent. It's highly unlikely they'll adjust on their own. See about a second opinion from another orthodonist to see if you can bring that price down.
Reply:You are having your wisdom teeth removed because there is not enough room in your mouth. The teeth that you have still will need to be straigtened. Just because the impacted teeth are being removed does not mean that the other teeth will move into the correct position. If you had enought room in your mouth for the wisdom teeth to erupt you would still need the braces to straighten out your teeth.
Reply:you teeth will somewhat shift but if your really concerend about crowding do to an orthodontist
