Do not worry, you will be sedated and probably will receive vicodin as a pain killer. The key to this is to take the vicodin before you start hurting, because it more difficult to arrest the pain after it starts hurting. You are going to be fine, do not worry. Explain your anxiety to your dentist prior to going in and he will probably give you benzodiazipine (Valium) before going in for the extraction. I have gone through this and while its not fun, you are going to be OK.
Reply:Don't worry about it, I hate having to go to the dentist too. I had all 4 wisdom teeth taken out last year. They will probably put you some local anesthesia (an injection, not to worry either) which will be a bit uncomfortable for like 5 seconds and then it goes away. You won't even feel when your dentist will take the teeth out. Trust me I had 4 taken and not a clue. One of my wisdom teeth was also in an angle so don't worry. I was in the chair for like 30 to 40 minutes at most, it will pass by fast! And that's cause i told the dentist to treat me like I was 5 years old, since I didnt like being there.
Reply:i'm 16 and i just got three wisdom teeth pulled out. don't worry if you ask them they'll probably do a general anesthetic. that is what they gave me. they'll give you pills for the day before and the day of. you don't feel any pain if you stay on the pain killers and take them on schedule. i stopped taking them after four or five days. you can't eat hard food though. it wasn't really bad because i have a samaller mouth and a doctor with big hands.you'll be fine, i'm sure.
Reply:I had all four of my wisdom teeth surgically removed when I was 18. ( they were fully formed, but lying sideways under the gums). The best advice I can give you is to make sure that whoever drives you stops ON THE WAY HOME to get your pain prescriptions filled. My father took me home first, waited until the anesthesia started wearing off and I started hurting, then left to go to the drugstore. By the time he got back I had the worst headache you can imagine. The only way I can describe it is to tell you I have had 6 children, and I prefer that to the headache I had. I had to take several doses of pain med before it began to ease up. I really don't mean to scare you, just to make sure you know to start taking the medicine before the pain gets ahead of you.

I was prescribed Percodan, but that was 26 years ago. I don't think they prescribe that as easily now. Plus there are a lot of new drugs out there. I'm sure whatever they give you will work fine.

God Bless You!
