I Just got my 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed this morning?

it wasnt as bad as i was expecting and once the pain killer kicked in i feel almost no pain. i have to keep gauze in because its still a mix of blood and spit and i just keep absorbing it with gauze rather than spit- i am mostly worried about dry sockets.

my bottom teeth were stitched up- can i still get a dry socket even if its stitched up? and besides drinking from straws and hard food (im a non smoker) is their any other advise any has for me... when can i expect to feel better... is it a good idea to start icing today? im just very paranoid and want to take the best care of these!

thanks alot!

relax. i'm surprised you're awake enough to type actually. you can ice today if you want but most of the swelling will happen tomorrow and the next day. keep your mouth clean and don't spit for a few days. that, along with what you're already doing should be enough to keep you from any problems.
Reply:I would suggest to relax and put ice on your mouth to bring the swelling down and so you won't have to move your muscles in your mouth and hurt your self and go through a lot of pain.
Reply:You should eat something (jello, mashed potatoes, something soft) so that you can take the pain killers without getting sick.

I wouldn't worry about a dry socket if you're not in pain now. dry socket is usually when it doesn't stop hurting with the pain meds.

Ice is a good idea for the first three days, after that use heat or nothing, because the ice actually slows down the healing process.

After the first 24 hours, try to clean your mouth as much as you can, but don't disturb the stitches. good luck!
Reply:Just keep doing what your doing and they should heal quickly. If you let the pain killer wear off I promise you it feels like you were hit with a sledge hammer, the throbbing pain is horrible so keep up with that!
