I have two horizontal impacted wisdom teeth and they need to be taken out. Is it serious ?

I'm 17 and i'm very bad dealing with pain. The doctor prefer i take all 4 wisdom teeth out at the same time. I was wondering what the precedure is going to be like and how long the whole process is going to take. Also, i would like to know the recovery process and is it going to be as painful as braces? Thx guyss...

I have two horizontal impacted wisdom teeth and they need to be taken out. Is it serious ?
horizontally impacted just means that the wisdom tooth has got a bit lost...instead of erupting straight up, its positioned wrong and moving horizontally. its only a problem when the wisdom tooth starts pressing on the next tooth. dentists generally suggest taking them out to prevent this risk. you will referred to a oral surgery department at hospital for a consultation. they may not need to put you under general anaesthetic, but as your nervous it might be more suitable. after discussing this and gaining consent you will be sent home to wait for the appointment for the extractions. its day surgery, and you'll be sent home the same day. normal post extraction care...no excessive exercise, smoking, drinking, spicey food for 24hrs as exercise gets your blood pumping, alcohol is an anticoagulant. smoking dries out the sockets where the teeth were causing a nasty condition called localised ostietis/dry socket which requires further treatment. spicey food can cause aggravation of the tissue. dont rinse or swill your mouth as this can dislodge blood clots casuing the same condition as smoking. you may feel a little sore after but just use normal painkillers. but not aspirin as it is an anticoagulant again and will thin your blood and prevent clotting. you'll soon be up and about, and after a few days you probably won't even notice the teeth have gone!
Reply:You'll be put under. So you won't feel a thing. After you might be sore but they'll give you some meds. You will need to eat soft foods for a couple of days. If you have had braces this is a good thing to do, because the wisdom teeth can push all the nicely aligned teeth out of place again. All three of my kids went through it and did great! Two of them even had all 4 pulled out at once. It sounds worse than it is. And some people will try and freak you out. Don't let them. its a great excuse to have your family pamper you for a couple of days. (ie Ice Cream) Good Luck
Reply:Horizontal is not good and something tells me at your age weather upper or lower, and being horizontal opposed to vertical

that you are going under anaesthetic either way. So I wouldn't be concerned of pain. I'm not sure about your braces being put back

S.A.P. as there will be swelling, maybe few days, pain absolutely

Dr. knows that and will give you prescribed medication, as he/she feels necessary, as for an adult this is under r jaw or upper, he/she'll be quite aware of the pain you'll endure. I've been through a similar surgery %26amp; pleasant not

Please do me a favour %26amp; e back 2 me when r o.k? diana2172003@yahoo.ca

Reply:I had a severely impacted wisdom tooth and failed to have it taken out, and a tiny bit of it poked thru the gum, then I got a severe infection and had to have it removed by emergency surgery. Take my advice and get it out now.

  1. I just had an odontectomy yesterday! It doesn't hurt anymore, but it's still swollen. By the way, I wrote about it in my blog, if you want you can check it out. Thanks!
