i found out that i have to have 2 impacted wisdom teeth removed. and i wanna know others experiences on having this procedure done. im gonna be completely knocked out. so any experiences would be helpful. thanks.

I won't tell you not to be scared or nervous, it's only natural that you are. I was scared too but I had a good doctor %26amp; nurses. I had to be knocked out too. I was out before I could start counting. But once it was over, I didn't have much pain, hardly any bleeding, a little soreness of the gums where they cut %26amp; my jaw a little. I strictly followed the doctor's orders.
A week later, I went back for a follow-up visit %26amp; my suttures were taken out. The doctor was very pleased at how well I healed. The only thing for me was that I got so tired of eating apple sauce, scrambled eggs, pudding, etc. I love those things but after eating them the entire week, I was ready for some hearty food. And I lost 5 lbs.
Follow the doctor's orders %26amp; you will be fine.
Reply:If they can't break them and pull them out they will probably have to cut them out with a sharp knife. You will bleed like a stuck pig but like you said you will be out so don't worry about it. Just be prepared to put a towel over your pillows at night because you will be bleeding for a few days out your mouf!
Reply:I had mine out a long time ago, 4 impacted teeth. I was also put under. It turned out to be OK. I didn't remember anything and woke up after wards with a mouth full of packing. They will inject painkillers in the area they work on and will give you a prescription, too. I was able to eat soup that night and the stitches fell out 3 or 4 days later. The thing that hurt the worst was my jaw muscles from them having my mouth open so wide for such a long time. Just follow their directions and you will be fine.
Reply:my wisdom teeth weren't impacted but i had to get my removed. mine was virtually painless bc they give u really good pain medicine so u dont feel anything. it was prolly the easiest procedure i've ever had done. and if i had to i'd do it again. i didn't bleed nor did i swell. only bad thing was you cant drink outta a straw and you cant eat real food until the stitches dissolve.. which they do in about 2 or 3 wks.

as soon as you wake up from the anesthetic. I had 2 impacted ones and i was fine. hurts a bit more, but thats what the pain killers you get are for! you'll be able to talk, drink and eat (soft things anyway) straight away...

I didnt really want to talk because I got self concious about my mouth everytime i opened it. it takes about a week. Depending on how quick you r body heals itself.

Hello everyone. I went to the dentist yesterday for a routine removal, and found out that I need to have my wisdom teeth removed. All four of them are impacted. I was wondering if some of you could give me your experiences good and bad. I'm super nervous about this, and have no idea what to expect. I am a 21 year old female, and have never, ever needed ANY kind of surgery before. Even oral surgery. Thanks for any help.

I had the same procedure about 2 years ago. I was put under, so it wasn't bad at all. It was my first surgery, too. Good luck! :) Also, make sure you follow the dentist's orders, such as after 24 hours, rinse with warm salt water. The dentist will give you some pain medication, too. You'll be fine.
Reply:lucky you. When i had mine pulled, they just went in and took them our with some kind of saw. The last one really hurt because I guess it was close to the nerve. But I'm still alive to tell the story. I was higher than a kite once they put on the laughing gas! Crazy!

Swollen gums from impacted wisdom teeth removal?
I had my impacted wisdom teeth removed a week ago, and I had my gums and in inside of my cheeks so swollen that they woud over lap my back molars. Now my gums and cheeks are starting to recede but I am beginning to bleed because of it! What should I do? Is this normal?

besides swishing with salt water, get a couple of those flexible ice/ cold packs put them in the freeze and hold them to the side of oyur face for 15 - 20 minutes at a time, since the swelloing is not so bad and it has been a whole since your procedure, you probably dont need to do it constantly- almost constant icing right after the procedure helps to seep healing and comfort - for now ice it here and there and it should helpthe swelling and bleeding

Impacted Wisdom Teeth?? HELP?
My doctor told me about 3 months ago that my wisdom teeth are impacted, after looking at a sinus x-ray. She didn%26#039;t make it seem that bad, so I have been waiting to get it done until the end of the summer. They started swelling and hurting Very bad so I finally went to the Dentist who said they are all underneath bone and I need to do it as soon as possible. Is that how all impacted wisdom teeth are? (Under bone) Just how bad is this surgery going to be? I took a week off of work next week, he said I should be okay after 4 days after the surgery. I thought I was going to be sedated, but he said I will be mostly awake, just how much pain can you feel this way? I am mostly nervous about being awake. I was awake through a minor sugery one time and it was a Horrible Experience they said I wouldn%26#039;t feel a thing but I felt EVERYTHING! Any encouragement from someone who%26#039;s had this done?? Thanks!

My Husband had all four of his impacted wisdom teeth removed by a Maxillofacial Surgeon. They are the true professionals. They will make incisions and not try to pop it out of your mouth like the idiot Dentist the Woman above me had LOL He recommended he take a few days off work -I%26#039;m not going to lie to you-it was not a walk in the park but they give you strong pain pills that make you sleep and you obviously cannot eat solid foods or drink through a straw for a while but it also wasn%26#039;t the horror show the person above me experienced. My advice to you is to go to a specialist, preferably one who will sedate you either by pills or laughing gas or have an anaesthetist on hand. Even better if the Dentist has a partner or two sharing the office building so if he/she get in over their heads they can have access to help. There are a few Family Dentists who may try this for the experience but don%26#039;t be their Guinea pig-leave it to a professional and I assure you-you will be okay!!
Reply:I wish I had more comfort for you, but I also had impacted wisdom teeth. I was awake during the procedure and it was quite painful. They had to push really hard on my jaw to get the teeth out and then they dislocated my jaw. Plus the teeth came out in little pieces. It was not fun. It does take awhile to heal, but after your week of vacation, you should be doing much better.
Reply:My oral surgeon wouldn%26#039;t put me out because of an irregular heart rhythm (mine, not his LOL), so he gave me two prescriptions to take an hour before the procedure. It worked REALLY well, so I would tell your oral surgeon and see if she%26#039;ll do it. I got a 2 mg Ativan, which is for anxiety, and 50 mg of Demerol, which is for pain. When we got to the office, I had to practically be poured into the chair! Then they gave me some nitrous while they were doing the work. I was WAY mellow!
I never had any cavities or anything done besides cleaning before all of this so I was really REALLY nervous, but with the Ativan and nitrous and stuff I didn%26#039;t care WHAT they did! LOL!!
Just don%26#039;t rinse your mouth a zillion times a day, don%26#039;t use a straw for like a week, and be very calm and not exercise for like 3 or 4 days and you will be fine. I was a huge major baby and now 3 weeks later I am doing fine!

Impacted wisdom teeth symptoms??????
I saw the denstis about a year ago and he told me I have impacted wisdom teeth. Since then I have felt alot of pressure on the roof of my mouth, and weird tingling at the base of my neck and front of my head. Also when I train in martial arts and roll on the ground, I feel it much more when the blood rushes to my head (The tingling and pressure in my mouth) Can this be from impacted wisdom teeth?
