Wisdom teeth removed 3 weeks ago lower left jaw started to swell up.?

Three weeks ago i had 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed. I did all the post procedure stuff. Everything has been going fine, no pain or anything. Then last night my left lower jaw started to swell up. It did not hurt but was uncomfortable. I took some advil and put ice on it when i went to bed. I woke up at 5 am with it hurting but not throbbing or anything really severe. So i went and looked in the mirrior at the back of my mouth. By this time my left side of my jaw was about as swollen. I noticed something white at the back of my mouth. I put my fingers back there to feel around and then the white spot erupted and lots of white puss looking stuff along with some dark blood. I push alot out and and the pain went away almost immidiately. I have been rinsing with listerine and hot salt water for an hour now and trying to get more stuff out. Now only a small amount of blood comes out if any at all. My jaw still feels swollen but does not hurt. What should i do?

Call your dentist as soon as his office opens. Stop fussing with the area with your fingers. The salt water rinse and listerine are good options for the moment. You may need an antibiotic but go back to the dentist. it should be covered by what you paid for the removals. The swelling should go down in a day or so if no infection present. Did I say SEE THE DENTIST and do it today
Reply:CONSULT A DENTIST, no self medication at this stage
Reply:Sounds like an infection! Get in to see your oral surgeon ASAP, or at least have them get you on antibiotics for the weekend! 3 weeks post-op is a classic time to develop an infection...the tissue is healing over the sockets and you can't get in there to keep them clean. Nuts, seeds, popcorn and raw broccoli are common foods that can get stuck in there and cause problems since they don't dissolve.
Reply:Go to the dentist you have an infection.
